MSM supplement

Although you may have heard of DMSO, chances are you’ve not heard of methylsulfonylmethane which thankfully is more commonly known as MSM. Both DMSO and MSM are naturally occurring compounds found in our food as sulfur. This sulfur is one of the most plentiful minerals in our bodies. Every cell we have has it, but it is mainly found in our joints, nails, hair and skin.

What it does for our bodies is also very important, for it provides us with anti-inflammatory properties as well as having strong pain reduction properties too. Now DMSO has an exceptionally objectionable odor, which MSM does not, thus making it a product that is more readily preferred for both humans and pets!

In humans, as well as animals, MSM is essential to the creation of energy in our bodies. It is also very useful for making our cells work with our nutrients and expel toxins. MSM is said to combine with the various toxins found in our bodies and thus expels them through urination. It also helps our bodies to be enriched with oxygen as well as the other nutrients that we bring into our body. Collagen synthesis, which is what repairs bones, blood vessels, gums and other very important cells, is one of the reasons why we need MSM. Vitamin C also works well in conjunction with MSM.

Dietary foods that bring us MSM are whole wheat, onions, garlic, Brussel sprouts, kale, milk, fish, clams, cabbage, soybeans, poultry, lean beef, beans, broccoli and eggs. Unfortunately our cooking methods remove much of the sulfur as does water and air pollution, over-farming, deforestation and even artificial irrigation practices.

Should our bodies not receive enough MSM, the body cannot repair or even replace damaged tissues. This often leads to abnormal cells building up and causing illnesses. One may feel a keen sensitivity to pain. Acid and alkaline balances may well be disrupted, and stop our bodies from being able to turn food into energy.

This then increases the chance of disease. If you have sulfur deficiency you may have cellular damage, premature aging, skin problems, poor circulation, brittle nails and hair, slow healing of wounds, inflammation, pain and even allergy symptoms.

MSM supplements are given to racehorses, dogs, cats and at times even guinea pigs. When dogs suffer from joint and hip problems, it has been found to help relieve inflammation and pain when they suffer from osteoarthritis! On the other hand, you will see a substantial change in your pet, as they will have shiny coats and strong nails, as well as increasing their energy! Depending on the size of your pet, do ask your veterinarian for the exact dose you should give them.

Thus people with osteoarthritis will usually feel much better with MSM supplements. Other arthritis sufferers may not get the same benefits as those with osteoarthritis. Rarely minor side effects are reported such as possible headache, diarrhea and mild stomach upset when taking MSM supplements, but side effects usually disappear after the body adapts to the MSM supplements.
